Hey, I am Lou.<\/p>

My heart has lived in this place since I was born. Grandma and family built this house. I thank them for everything they gave for us, that we always had a space here and all who needed it, that we were allowed to share it and all were always welcome. Their soul will live on forever in us and in this house. And we too will continue to fill it with our ideas, thoughts, visions and dreams, with our being. My introverted part belongs to me: I take you on expeditions and wanderings in nature and marvel, spend creative afternoons or sit with you at the breakfast table and interpret dreams. And once the ice has melted between us, you will also meet the part of me that runs with you out into the pouring rain and dances in puddles. I love to sing and when you give me a football, I give you my widest smile.<\/p>

Hi, I'm Anja and I'm from beautiful Nuremberg!<\/p>

Four years ago I moved to Dresden. Since this city is still a bit too big and noisy for me, I'm looking forward to tackling the project of country life with such a loving bunch of people.<\/p>

I like to stick my head in the clouds and into different projects.\u00a0<\/p>

I earn my living in the IT sector. Nevertheless, my enthusiasm for technology is limited in my private life and I prefer to devote myself to creative handicrafts and small building projects, making my living environment more beautiful or enjoying the colourful life together with my current flat-sharing community of 10 people (aka my chosen family). Every year I look forward to the gardening season only to find out that my skills are still rather satisfactory than good and that the regular watering is a real pain. But I'm working on it and the strain is quickly forgotten with my own garden and wild herb salad.<\/p>

It's important for me to look after each other, to manage the daily routine together - er... to celebrate it. To have time for each other. Not mincing words and addressing conflicts before the elephant in the room has turned the porcelain shop upside down.<\/p>

My name is Juls and I grew up on the outskirts of Hamburg. My favourite way to spend time is out in nature - whether it's wandering through the forest, following a babbling brook, scrambling up a mountain slope, reading in the sun or letting the wind blow around my ears on a walk on the beach. Since I love water and seem to have a tendency to bob my knees when excited, I have most recently been attested to be related to the dipper.<\/p>

Delicious vegan food makes me happy, while hunger supposedly puts me in a bad mood quickly. My paid work is in the field of social education and I like to spend my free time with creative projects, cosy movie nights and exciting game nights.<\/p>

While I tend to avoid large gatherings of people and am mostly discreetly overwhelmed by party situations, the close social relationships in my life are incredibly valuable to me. I value social relationships where we're there for each other and at the same time give each other the space we need. Relationships in which we can rely on each other and also support each other in terms of structural inequalities. I wish that we can exchange ideas, criticise and develop further together, that we can share silly moments as well as our sadness and anger. If I'm honest, I never thought I would return to this place for a prolonged period of time. Everything in me yearned for the wide world after my childhood in the village. After a few years in Dresden, I first found myself in the desert of Algeria, then on the Atlantic coast of Morocco and finally in the dunes of Denmark. Above all, it was always the people who made me feel at home. I felt most at home in the community of those who shared their love for the world and what they were given by it.<\/p>

When I talk to other people about the place where I grew up, all it takes is a few sentences about the beautiful countryside or the typical village life to bring up either memories of the GDR and the consequences of rule by the SED regime or the major problem of widespread right-wing extremist ideas. There are some friends who don't dare to travel to the region out of fear. I feel ashamed of that. It's not easy to realise how good it is for me personally to walk through the woods in the village, to spend time with my loved ones and at the same time to know that many others would never feel safe or welcome here at the moment. It is this dichotomy, this love-hate relationship, that motivates me to return here. The best thing about it is not being alone, but having the most amazing people around me that I can imagine. The place I call home should be a place for everyone and I am sure that we will achieve this together. After all, we're not just a house group standing behind this vision, but a large community of friends and allies as well as an entire syndicate consisting of thousands of people.<\/p>

In the last few years, we have managed to make the Mosaik-Haus a place where people enjoy coming for a few days at least, feel comfortable, inspire each other and don't have to be afraid. The house project is meant to be based on this. The Mosaik-Haus will create countless new connections that will have a positive impact on the surrounding area. My heart leaps at the thought of people meeting who might otherwise never have crossed paths. I believe it is possible to see and nurture the good in everyone. If we manage to become more aware of our privileges, see what unites us in each other and stop trying to dominate other people, as well as nature, then I believe we can live well together.<\/p>

Perhaps my biggest motivation in the end is simply that I would have liked to have such a place even as a child, where I don't have to be pretending, where people accept me exactly as I am. Instead of looking all over the world for such a place, perhaps the simpler answer is simply to create it myself. At home. I hope that the Mosaik-Haus will become such a place for many good souls. Hello, I'm Bela. My first home is here and there in NRW, while my second home I found mainly in the great people I met in Dresden. I moved here 7 years ago and knew after the second week that I didn't want to leave here so quickly. So I started with an FSJ in a hostel and after a year of studying sociology I decided to study geography. I discovered bouldering for myself, first indoors and soon outdoors, especially in France, and I'm already looking forward to being close to the Bahra Valley. I always notice how much strength and peace nature can give you.<\/p>

I love creative work, painting furniture or sewing the odd little thing, getting to know lots of new things and throwing myself into projects. In the process, it can also happen that I neglect drinking water and sleeping. I'm keen to start gardening, tinker around the house and meet new people. Attention: In the beginning I can be very shy and reserved, but this is definitely nothing personal, just overstraining on my part.<\/p>

Well... if someone had told me 5 years ago that I would move to the countryside in Saxony, I probably would have laughed and said \"never!\", but here I am and I'm really looking forward to it. And yet I often thought about living in a community in the countryside, in a house, living with lots of people and creating a somewhat more autonomous life together. It was always a thought, but never really serious, because it just didn't seem possible. I am very grateful to now have this chance and I am even more happy about the people with whom the Mosaik House has started. And I have the hope, the wish and the dream to change something in the world, something that at least brings a little hope and reduces sorrow and worries. But where exactly do you start? Yes, then comes the numbness, the unconsciousness towards all the injustices and problems in our world. And perhaps it works best to start small.<\/p>

To create a place in a village in Saxon Switzerland where everyone is welcome to come together for cosy evenings, warm summer days, activist events, creative workshops, shared meals and much more. My name is Olaf and I originally grew up north of Dresden. I like nature and hiking and in my free time, besides my studies in mechanical engineering, I am very interested in technical things. I tinker a lot with bikes and take things apart, sometimes put them back together and sometimes they even work again afterwards, even though they didn't before. I like the idea that we all live here together in the house and that the house doesn't belong to any of us. I like the idea of sharing and repairing things. So I would also like to share my knowledge and my tools and make sure that maybe we repair things together and make them work again. That \"my\" tool becomes \"our\" tool and that we deal with it as we should deal with nature and other common property: That we all feel responsible for it and treat it with care.<\/p>

I consider dreams to be very important because they also represent our innermost desires. In my dreams, all people take responsibility for themselves and their environment, sharing all that this planet has to offer with everyone and repairing the damage that our current way of life is causing - both to us humans and to all other living beings. We decide together how we want to live in consideration of all others who might be affected. People contribute in whatever way and wherever they can and get what they need. This is organised in assemblies where people can have their say. Where needs are visible and listened to, and where, according to the resources available, these needs are met, with consideration for all needs.<\/p>

But dreams don't have to remain dreams, they can also become reality. That's why I often ask myself how we can develop into such a society. Hello, I'm Bela. My first home is here and there in NRW, while my second home I found mainly in the great people I met in Dresden. I moved here 7 years ago and knew after the second week that I didn't want to leave here so quickly. So I started with an FSJ in a hostel and after a year of studying sociology I decided to study geography. I discovered bouldering for myself, first indoors and soon outdoors, especially in France, and I'm already looking forward to being close to the Bahra Valley. I always notice how much strength and peace nature can give you.<\/p>

I love creative work, painting furniture or sewing the odd little thing, getting to know lots of new things and throwing myself into projects. In the process, it can also happen that I neglect drinking water and sleeping. I'm keen to start gardening, tinker around the house and meet new people. Attention: In the beginning I can be very shy and reserved, but this is definitely nothing personal, just overstraining on my part.<\/p>

Well... if someone had told me 5 years ago that I would move to the countryside in Saxony, I probably would have laughed and said \"never!\", but here I am and I'm really looking forward to it. And yet I often thought about living in a community in the countryside, in a house, living with lots of people and creating a somewhat more autonomous life together. It was always a thought, but never really serious, because it just didn't seem possible. I am very grateful to now have this chance and I am even more happy about the people with whom the Mosaik House has started. And I have the hope, the wish and the dream to change something in the world, something that at least brings a little hope and reduces sorrow and worries. But where exactly do you start? Yes, then comes the numbness, the unconsciousness towards all the injustices and problems in our world. And perhaps it works best to start small.<\/p>

To create a place in a village in Saxon Switzerland where everyone is welcome to come together for cosy evenings, warm summer days, activist events, creative workshops, shared meals and much more.
